Hi! As of August 30, the Conrad SOIC is now open! We have a little more than five weeks until Oct. 24, which means we should start brainstorming and drafting a short abstract. Last year, we posited a piezoelectric device as a means of green energy & reduction of subway noise, but we can go anywhere this year. We can stick in the same field (Energy & Environment), or we can delve into other areas of research (Aerospace and Aviation, Cybertechnology and Security, and Health and Nutrition). Regardless, I think a guiding prerequisite should be something that benefits New York City at large and at the same time has global applications. :D

Yeah, I actually wouldn't worry too much about global applications because something that we know would benefit NYC would benefit any large city, so that automatically affects the entire world. We should definitely stick to cities and city/urban issues.
